65 websites were checked by Greek Data Protection Authority about privacy terms, security, commercial communication and cookies. These websites belong to a variety of sectors, such as insurance companies, financial institutions, e-commerce, ticket services and public services. Several deficiencies were observed in the installation and use of cookies, as well as in newsletters and advertising messages. Incomplete information on processing operations and recipients of personal data was also observed. Significant deficiencies were also identified in the reporting of the purposes and legal basis of the processing.
The Data Protection Authority emphasizes that penalties will be imposed by law for non-compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be imposed.
